Oral Biology is the basic dental science subject, to be taught in the BDS 1st professional year. The course contents of this subject are horizontally integrated with basic medical science subjects which include Anatomy, Physiology & Biochemistry.   However it is vertically integrated with all the  clinical subjects of dentistry as it provides the basic fundamental knowledge to be applied later in clinical dentistry.

Undergraduate students  are taught about development, structure, histology & function of dental tissues with relevance to applied clinical dentistry. Their psycho-motor skills are also developed by different techniques like tooth carving & drawings to enhance their conceptual knowledge.
